Paul,

I don't know what a preferred way would be. For me, probably some sort of
TABLE_EXISTS UDF.

However, this'll do:

SELECT COUNT(*)
FROM QSYS2/SYSTABLES
WHERE TABLE_SCHEMA = 'MYLIB' AND TABLE_NAME = 'MYTABLE'

You could use it your query like:

SELECT * FROM SYSIBM/SYSDUMMY1 WHERE 1 =
 (SELECT COUNT(*)
  FROM QSYS2/SYSTABLES
  WHERE TABLE_SCHEMA = 'MYLIB' AND TABLE_NAME = 'MYTABLE')

Subject: SQL Table Existence?

What's the preferred way to check for the existence of a table using SQL?

Thanks,
