I guess my response is more a comment on console options than V5R3M5.
My two cents:

> HMC = sweet - you can even remote console if you set it up right
> Twinax = thick gangly cables, but rarely fails (and on the way out)
> LAN console = BLECCH!!!!!
> Ops console = BLECCH!!!!!

I run a 810 with three LPARs with the primary at V5R2. So as a result
I don't have the HMC option. With limited slots to run ethernet
cards, I could spare three slots to dedicate three ethernet cards for
the Lan Console fro each partition. I didn't want to have three
twinax consoles so I got creative. I use a Windows 2000 pc with a 4
port PCI Serieal port expander. I run VMWare and run three seperate
Windows 2000 machines on the box. VMWare virtualized the serial ports
so Ops Console gets it's COM1 because each VMWare Windows 2000 machine
has a COM1. You can RPD into the box if you want. Works pretty good.
If you need to you can have the Production LPAR window full screen so
the operators don't accidentially get on the wrong LPAR.
