RFID seems to be a great tochnology, but I have not yet found a reader that will send the data directly to an AS/400. Can you recomend a provider?

Then don't mention them!!

How about RFID to track a vehicle and send back information from each of the parts? They can do this with the shuttle!! Driver logs are needed less and less since big brother can watch.

And Paul, construction sites ~can~ upgrade their technology. There are more and more robust PDAs and laptops, etc that can gather data. I expect they do paperwork to give a couple of extra workers a job. In Australia, they pay one guy to be the key keeper at each site. He gets paid to get there in the morning and open the gate, and leave after every other worker. His day is therefore mostly overtime, and he does nothing else all day. Why stop the paperwork if you need to have one of your buddies collecting a paycheck?
