Buzz,
I used a 3570 for five years here at ECHO. More than once, I inadvertently
moved the write protect tab while handling a cartridge and didn't realize it
until our backups failed. Just wanted point it out that it's not that hard
to move the tab.

Fortunately, we bought a 3581 when we upgraded to an i5 in the Spring. They
both rock!

Subject: 3570 Tape Drive Moving Write Protect Tabs

I've searched the archives and not found what I'm looking for, but I recall
a post from someone who was having an issue with write protect tabs being
moved (to protect status) during drive usage and was wondering if the
problem was solved. We've had IBM hardware support look at ours (more than
once) and have not found any cause yet, which is a real bugger when your GO
SAVE decides to balk on you at 2:00 AM Saturday morning!
