Are you looking for a facing tool like HATS or just 5250 access? I wasn't aware the PComm provided more than just a 5250 interface (but I admit that I am not that familiar with it).

Free 5250 emulation is available through tn5250j at sourceforge (sf.net). Since it is an open source project you can pretty much use it as you need to. I know of at least one user on the tn5250j list that has modified to the code to do some "facing" (and there has been talk from others). We had a guy from Seagull (I think) working on the code as well.

We have been trying to find a rather cheap alternative to using IBM
Pcomm for some of our vendors or remote users to use when accessing our
AS400 via the Internet. On occasion, we use PComm to allow our vendors
to access our AS400. In trying to use HATSLE, we have found some of
the formatting of the screens don't automatically format properly thus
it's rather impossible to use unless you rewrite the screens to work
with it. Any suggestion with HATSLE or another low priced product we
can use for this access.
