I do believe that's not going to be a problem. Frankie actually has a 30/60 GB QIC in him now.

Don't tell IBM but I have cheated for this sort of thing. Take the front panel off the 720. There will be a small 1" by 3" or so metal plate held on by one screw. Remove the plate and you will see a 68 pin SCSI connector. Wanna know what that hooks up to? Port 0 of the RAID card in the 720. If you don't want to mess with mounting the QIC in the 720 or you have the wrong removable drive tray (there are more than one type!) you can connect the tape drive with a short SCSI cable to that port. A few things to watch out for: 1) REMOVE the 8MM tape before you do this. It's using address 0.
2) Set the QIC drive to address 0. It probably is but verify.
3) You need some power source. Any PC Power supply will do if it has the correct plug for the tape drive which they almost all will. 4) Do this messing around with the 400 down and then IPL it. Remember that you are messing with the connection to your load source hard disk. so safety first! 5) *DO NOT* Do this to a production system. You are extending the SCSI Bus and are in an *UNSUPPORTED* configuration. Of course for migrations it's perfect!
