There are services out there which can decompile iSeries objects into new 
source.

Even those objects without observibility.

The fact of the matter is that you'll find a lot more iSeries sites running 
code from 1988 than you will Windows sites.  If you can find any Windows sites 
at all.

IMHO, the iSeries support of legacy code is both a good thing and a bad thing.

The good thing is it protects the investment of code that still meets the 
business requirements.

The bad thing is that it leads to a broadening of the definition of "meets the 
business requirements" and the code is kept in use longer that it should be.  
Much of time ending up with a heavily patched application that is a nightmare 
to maintain.  But we keep maintaining it because we can.
