COMMON has been to Nashville - 2001 or there abouts. Never to Knoxville or Chattanooga. I live in TN; I don't go to either unless there's a warrant out for me.

It has never been to Charlotte, though. Charlotte, at COMMON's current size, could more than accommodate a conference, and it's a great city (used to live there). And the weather is pretty decent either Spring or Fall. There are a lot of places like Charlotte and Nashville that could hold COMMON currently. Many moons ago, when I was part of the planning for these things, that wasn't the case, but times change. Part of the problem is airport facilities; the city pretty much has to be at least a 2nd tier (one stop off from Chicago, DFW, etc.), and with a decent volume at that so that everyone can get in/out all at once basically. Charlotte and Nashville can handle that requirement, and there are probably some other decent places that could (make up your own list). Personally, I like towns like these and Indianapolis (why not Des Moines or Boise?).

Great job. But maybe I am staying off the beaten path. The sessions I
have attended have run from "empty" to "tight" but not Standing Room
Only (yet!)

Had one person email me that one session was standing room only and
he
left because people kept crowding in front of him.

COMMON update

Long day at the $$Marriott$$...

Diet Coke was offered during the morning break. Al and I got our fix
of
the good stuff...

session rooms running fuller than some conferences, couple blowouts.

Food this evening in Expo was great. Not a banquet, but if you went
hungry it was your own fault.

Gotta finish working with my bugs... Nite...
