I would think that you're auditors would be ok with the answer that prior to SOX (I assume this is SOX related) there was no reason to save the logs, and therefore you can't answer that question about something that happened in the past. However, part of your new SOX-aware operations guide is that you do now save the history logs for ever and will be able to answer that question for any release upgrade that occurs in the future. -Walden PS.
