We use our 3750 without BRMS.

You should have to devices defined, TAPxx and TAPLIBxx.  Just use the TAPxx 
device with the reqgular SAVxxx/RSTxxx commands.

Make sure the drive is in "sequential mode".  Meaning, when one tape is done 
the next is automatically loaded.  Then you can preload as many tapes as you 
need.  

The way we use it is on Monday, we load 7 tapes for the week.  The daily backup 
job ends with an ENDOPT(*UNLOAD) and the next tape is automatically loaded for 
the next day.

When we do a monthly full system save, we load 7 tapes and the drive loads the 
next tape as the prior was is filled up.
