I like your method.  And I have no problem with it.  In fact, many tape 
drives cannot be used as an alternate IPL device and you have to do it 
this way.  I guess my question was more if someone restored the OS (not 
just the LIC) from the install media instead of your tape, how to get 
stuff back in sync with the original machine.
