I'm afraid you're completely wrong about that.

PKZIP is in fact available for the iSeries.  As are numerous other utilities 
that will handle .ZIP files.

If you don't want to pay extra or download anything additional, then you can 
simply use Java's 'jar' command from qshell or CL which can create .ZIP files.
