RE: RPGIII compiler vs Visual Basic

My point isn't that no programs will run, but that many won't.  You may
have some things you wrote that still work, but there are plenty of
things that don't, especially things that are slightly "non-vanilla".
For example, my Post-It Notes program, which was one of my very
favorites, didn't work past Windows 98.

Yes, I'm sure you can find programs that still run.  But you can find
just as many that won't.  VAJ used to break every release.  Lotus
programs tended to crash and burn as well.  Microsoft took a certain
cruel pleasure in making sure competitor's programs failed, or at least
it seemed that way.
