Another cause for the intermittent drops, believe it or not, could be a 
bad ethernet cable somewhere between the iSeries ethernet card and the 
hub/switch.  It could also be a bad port in the hub/switch.  This may seem 
unbelievable, but I did experience that very issue on a three partition 
810.
