I can't remember where I saw the IBM internal numbers, Rick.  IIRC
somebody on this list brought them up.  As to general benchmarks, go to
my IAAI web site.  I haven't been able to do a lot to update it lately,
but I have a pretty complete set of benchmarks that definitely show
native I/O beating the pants off of JDBC (and even embedded SQL for most
business application operations).
