I played around with this a while back without any good results.

I started with the SAMBA set of programs in the PASE environment.  I had
lots of problems trying to get nmblookup working.

http://www.inetcat.org/software/nbtscan.html mentions getting to work with
AIX maybe I'll try and compile for PASE.
