Re: RCLSTG for OS Upgrade ???

We have a couple of 270's, (and it's every 8 weeks, not every 6 weeks).
GDI-270-23F1,
System ASP . . . . . . : 140.6 G
% system ASP used . . : 85.4166
RCLSTG took 1 hour and 38 minutes
GDI has some Domino and a few copies of BPCS on it for testing.

MAILTWO-270-2454
System ASP . . . . . . : 527.4 G
% system ASP used . . : 66.3169
RCLSTG took 15 minutes. Ran every week.
MAILTWO has all Domino. Only 1 os/400 partition. But 8 Domino
partitions.

I am in the process of running RTVDSKINF. I tried PRTDSKINF *SYS on both
and it was a year or two out of date.

Subject
RCLSTG for OS Upgrade ???

We are making preparations to upgrade our Domino server, a 270 running
V5R1, to V5R3 next month. All that's really on this box are Notes
databases, Robot, and BRMS. It's behind on PTF's but I have the latest
V5R1 ones ready to load. It's at 70.7% of 113GB of disk. We don't do
journaling.

I've worked here almost two years in that time it has never had a RCLSTG
done on it. For that matter, it's probably been much, much longer since
one was done, if ever. (The QRCLSTG data area is empty.) At my former
job
we typically ran a RCLSTG about every six weeks. There hasn't been a
pressing need to do one here and there is a desire to have Notes available
24/7. Given the history of our system it could potentially run for many
hours.

I have seen remarks in the archives recommending it for an OS upgrade. I
know that it identifies damaged and lost objects and tries to recover
them.

Since I will need to justify the extended downtime do we "need" to do it
or
at least a RCLSTG *DBXREF? We are planning to put the V5R1 PTF's on now
and V5R3 in January. If we need to do it I would think that it would need
to be done as close to V5R3 time as possible or should we do it both now
and then? Any advice would be appreciated.
