Probably will be safe for a very long time.  It hasn't been enhanced
in a long time, and I know that there are TONS of in-house stuff that
depend on it for the creation of workfiles, reports, etc.

Don't expect any enhancements, and it may not keep up with the latest
and greatest query engines for db2, but I don't see it going anywhere.
