I seem to remember working with IBM support and being able to run thru a 
series of control panel functions to reset/recover/make work a lost OPS 
Cons connection. Have you talked to support?  It could have been a 
different situation, so don't take this as gospel.

We've had nothing but problems with pc ops console.  It's been
inoperative for about a month now, were looking to schedule some
downtime so we can re-ipl.  That's the only thing we've found that
will bring it back.
