Hi Vance -

This is probably a tired subject so forgive me..........

I am working in a shop where it appears that most ILE programs are running in the Default
Activaction group. I was at the IBM Technical conference in Las Vegas A week ago and attended a
class that indicated that unpredictable results could occur if you run ILE in the Default
activation group. I have also heard that performace issues can arise as well. Has anyone run
into problems running ILE in this manner? Just a note we are not utilizing much object linking.

We have a mixture of programs, encompassing DFTACTGRP(*YES), DFTACTGRP(*NO) ACTGRP(*CALLER) where it may be running in the default activation group or in a *NEW activation group, and DFTACTGRP(*NO) ACTGRP(*NEW). All of our service programs are ACTGRP(*CALLER) where it may be running in the default activation group or in a *NEW activation group. We do not use named activation groups.

We do NOT use RCLRSC or RCLACTGRP (both of which are accidents looking for a place to happen, regardless of what kind of OPM/ILE environment you use).

The service programs have to be coded carefully (not a problem since I do all of the service programs myself). So long as that is done, no problems.
