Oops, did not read quite thoroughly before.  My issue was with the PING 
command.  We use PING with a loopback to verify connection to the iSeries 
from a Unix box.  We noticed that this was taking longer after we upgraded 
to V5R2 - when *ip6 was introduced, I think.  Once we changed the PING 
command to use the *ip4, we were then running at normal speed.
