How do determine / change the setting on the

Motorola UDS V.3400 ?

Depends on if you are doing async or some sync comms. In general, if you
are doing dial up BSC or SNA, then factory option 9 should work great. If
you are doing async, then factory option 1 is probably your best bet.

Subject: Re: Motorola UDS setting

Hi Dwayne -

We have a Motorola UDS V.3400 modem connected to our AS/400. We are
working with a company call ChoicePoint who pull data and deliver data to our system through modem. One of our operators took out the fuser to the modem and the setting got lost. We tried the factory setting, but that did not work.

When they call we get:

Ringing
Training
On Line
ARA Responder

The person who set the modem up years ago has passed, and no one here or
at ChoicePoint knows what the setting should be.

It's been quite a while, but I worked with Motorola UDS modems at a couple of previous jobs. I was hoping I still had some emails around with details but it appears that I deleted them.

I don't remember what model(s) I was working with, but for synchronous communications my memory is telling me that we used option set 9, modified only to turn off auto-answer. We saved it as a custom option set and made that custom option set as the power-on default.

I hope that helps.
