Wanted to see if anyone had any experience, thoughts, and/or comments about
using an IxA attached Windows box as an external websever instead of a
standalone PC.

The web server will be used in an extranet, so should only be accessed by
authenticated customers and not the public as a whole. Will be located on
the DMZ network of the firewall. The webserver will be accessing the
database on the iSeries.

Yes, I know, I shouldn't be using the Windows box in the first place. But I
lost that battle. I'm just thankful I won the battle to have the DB on the
iSeries instead of the SQL server that was originally planned.

In particular, I'm wondering about pros/cons to having the private interface
between the iSeries and the IxA box. This seems useful, but it does mean
that the firewall will be bypassed. I'm thinking that the iSeries packet
filtering would provide similar capabilities as far as limiting inbound
packets from the web server to the iSeries.

Thoughts and/or comments?

Thanks in advance.
