We save our daily backups on a 35 day rotation. It had been 28 days, but this was less than 1 full month; we wanted to be able to step back to before the last month end if necessary. "Daily" includes weekends.

Daily backups include IFS, DLO, SECDTA, full library saves of our main applications. This includes data and programs. I think the only thing we don't save on a daily basis are some objects that are locked and won't let us get a clean save until Restricted State.

We IPL monthly, and do a SAVSYS plus the extra stuff we don't get during the month.

Month end backups are saved forever.

My goal is to make the box that holds the month end tapes fully self-contained, including a SAVSYS, all libraries, data purged during the previous month, application programs, etc. etc. I want to be able to grab any month end case, take it to the hot site, and have everything I need to rebuild our system.
