Speaking of Masefield, I have Stan Hugill on CD but that's a different
topic altogether.

One offsetting advantage of C is that there are tens of thousands of
examples of various code bits on the web.  Of course, the iSeries C
has some handicaps [like no fork() or exec()] so making those examples
work isn't necessarily as simple as cut, paste & compile.
