the various terms I've heard/used/been forced to use to be understood;

  2. Squiggle, Squiggly/Sqigglie
  3. The wavy thing

  2. Obelisk's friend
  3. And not trying to sound politically incorrect, but from a female 
programmer; the 'snowflake'

  1. Hat
  2. Power

  1. Bar
  2. Pipe

Which to me means that in my earlier years as a C programmer - to maybe ease 
the pain - I would some times put some #(1) in my #(1)|(2) and make my mind 
~(3)...
