David will soon send us to the C-400 list, but let me give you a suggestion that might make your life a little easier.

Use a #define to create a macro that will hide all the junk of memcpy and memcmp, etc. You can pass things to the macro, just as to a function Or write a function, esp. if you want easier debugging and more informative message handling.

There are probably folks on the Internet or on the C-400 list that have better ideas on this kind of thing. It's what C folks do, to make life easier with this very powerful and very unwieldy language.

There might be some good in googling on "useful macros in c".

Argh...I'm not sure. It (possibly, maybe) could be application design,
so I'm whacking on the program, and just get frustrated with char and
const char and arrays and memcpy and strcpy and all I want to do is put
the contents of one variable into another. I work with C, VB and RPG
here, and sometimes I just want to have my own language that does what
I want it to.

Basically I'm a whiner...
