This is no longer a problem.  Take a look at the DDS keyword
'Position'.  It allows placement of a field or constant down to the
hundredth of an inch.  You can also use a number of variable pitch fonts
and varying point sizes, should you so choose.  You can even use program
to system fields so that you can specify where things print under direct
control of your program code.
