If you create message queue QSYS/QSYSMSG, "important" OS/400 messages are
sent here. Examples are utility power failed/restored, user profiles
disabled, disk percentage threshold reached, etc. I wrote a never-ending
break handling program that monitors QSYSMSG and sends me email
notification.

You can do similar things with QSYSOPR, but that is a catch-all queue with a
lot of noise (IMO).

Another alternative would be using a product (we use Messenger Plus) to help
manage and filter messages. You can choose which messages to ignore, have
the system reply to others, and email you on yet other messages.

Subject: What messages do you monitor for?

HI I am thinking of writing a program that would monitor for critical
messages. Does anyone have a list of such messages? I know I want to monitor
for CPC1125 ( a job was cancelled).

Thank you,

Mike
