We converted two 720's and a 820 to an LPAR 810. The migrations went well
(except for the PC Lan Console - we had many, many, many problems with it)
as long as you follow the Save / Restore poster that IBM sends with the
machine and leave yourself enough time. IBM's prices are IBM prices. That
is, I wouldn't buy a machine (AS/400) from any other vendor except IBM.

Subject: 820 upgrade

We currently have a model 820 (v4r5), purchased in 2001. We're looking to
upgrade it (probably forklift) to a new I5 or P10 class machine, v5r3.
What from your experience is involved in the transition from one machine to
the other? Are IBM practices for this kind of upgrade pretty standard?
