c:\progra~1\ibm\client~1\emulator\private\wrkstn.ws

will do the trick, since the extension is registered with Windows. I just tried it in a command prompt, should also work in Start->Run...

There's also the "start" command in windows - rn the following to get some interesting info:

start /? > c:\start-help.txt

Of course, if the .ws files are not in this location, you need to find where they are. I found this in the Registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IBM\Personal Communications\CurrentVersion\Preferences\Profile Directory

Mine points to C:\Program Files\IBM\Client Access\Emulator\private, which is the same as it has been forever. Of course, you'd need to surround this with quotes, as there are spaces.

In a program you could retrieve this value, then append the .ws name, and, ba-da-bing. Also, no need for the quotes in a VB or other kind of program. VA-RPG should have functions to get Registry entries, right?

same here. So, what do you type on a command line to open the *.ws file?
