To print to a LAN attached IPDS printer, you need PSF/400.

It's an optional part of the OS that you have to pay extra for.
On v5r2 it is shown this way:
LICPGM Option Feature Description
5722SS1 36 5112 OS/400 - PSF/400 1-45 IPM Printer Support
5722SS1 37 5113 OS/400 - PSF/400 1-100 IPM Printer Support
5722SS1 38 5114 OS/400 - PSF/400 Any Speed Printer Support

on older versions the speed ratings are lower.

If you don't already have it installed good luck trying to find it.

You could also discard the IPDS simm and simply use Host Print Transform and
use the printer as a LAN attached ASCII printer. In which case you can use
LPD/LPR or the LexLink protocol (requires Lexmark/IBM network adapters).

The PCL and SNMP drivers didn't come out till v3r7.

Good luck,
Charles
