Hi Paul,

Zebra printers have their own languages for creating
labels (ZPL - Zebra Programming Language, Eltron
language for a printer division purchased by Zebra
some years ago, and a new language for their wireless
devices). Your RPG program will need to send the
proper text commands to the Zebra you are using in
order for it to print labels. Unfortunately the data
stream error condition response for most bar code
printers is to do nothing, which is usually not
particularly helpful when troubleshooting an iSeries
or AS/400 connection to one of these printers.

I would suggest having the PC5250 setup wizard
activate host print transform and then use a *WSCST.
The Workstation Customization Object you want is named
QWPDEFAULT and it typically lives in QSYS. It provides
spool file conversion from EBCDIC to ASCII along with
carriage return, line feed, and form feed for
formatting.

This selection should cause the correct Zebra text to
come from your RPG program to iSeries Access and it
will then pass transparently through the selected
Windows operating system print driver to the USB
attached printer.

HTH

Best Regards,

/Paul
