Groups are mainly for that, grouping similar libraries and objects
together. Each group has its own journal, so you can start/end
groups seperately. Sometimes, when there is a problem in a group, the
apply job stops doing its job, but only for that group. If
you put all objects in one big group, all data replication will stop until
you have fixed the problem.

We have mainly grouped by application, which was very good in the
beginning. Journalling our EDI application was a big strain on
system performance, and we were happy to be able to turn off the EDI
group, but the other groups where still mirrored.

One more point, each group has its own apply job (that does the
mirroring), so if you put too much strain on that job (too many objects),
your apply might lag behind.

I hope this clears it up somewhat.

Regards,

Oliver
