Don is right. I think first digit must be century code. It is set to 0 if year
is from 1928 to 1999 and to 1 from 2000 to 2071. So you have only to test this
digit to constitute a long julian format and then to convert it to mdy format.

Regards.

Assuming the first digit is a century code, first convert the field to a
seven digit date by adding 19 to the first digit. %DATE should be able to
handle that with the *LONGJUL format.

I need to convert a 6 digit julian date (104365) to a 6 digit mdy date. THe
%date function will not do this. Does anyone know of a way to do this. I'm
using v5r2 coding in with rpg free.
