Hi Marty, thank you for replying.

The other V.24 comms adapters are identical as it happens.

I am using SLIP to maintain consistency with some older AS/400s (v3r2) that
do not support the later PPP standard; it's not brilliant but it does what I
need - when I can configure the d??n thing.  

The symptoms on other iSeries were identical, updating the Cum pack and
client service packs did resolve it in the past.

I can see that the response to this cry for help is overwhelming so I will
struggle on ...

Jeff,

I'm thinking that just because you can run an async modem on it doesn't
necessarily mean it can run PPP or SLIP.

You have one hardware resource showing up. Does it happen to be a different
feature code than the ones that are not showing up? I wonder if the cards in
question do not support SLIP.
