We've never heard of such a thing, either, which is why we were so surprised
when it happened.  IBM was almost no help, except to suggest we should
remove the cume.  That would have involved taking down the system for an
inordinate amount of time during the day.  Perhaps if we had a backup system
it would not have mattered.  Such a thing is on the list but a ways off.

The unfortunate thing about the experience is that we are now very nervous
about applying cumes.  IBM support prefers customers to be up to date on
such things and we can't upgrade to the next release until we are so we may
be in for interesting times.

First I've heard of that with a ptf.  Now, there was a well documented
upgrade years ago in which the 'Wireless' product was dropped upon upgrading
to a certain release of OS.  That involved upgrading a lot of hardware on
our part.
