This is just an educated guess, but I'd say that "EDCDIC" is probably a typo.

But please keep in mind that there are a great many EBCDIC code pages (you
learn about these things when you're designing an emulator!). While the
letters and digits are all in the same place, a lot of the other
characters move around from one code page to another; make sure you're
using the correct one!

Moreover, since it's from a mainframe, rather than midrange, system, it's
entirely possible that the code page charts in the back of the 5250 data
stream book will be of only limited usefulness.
