Don what is attached is the HMC in either rack mount or desktop configurations required for LPAR systems only. HMC basically replaces the primary partition and runs on Linux. The hypervisor has been replaced/upgraded to powervisor and all the new virtualization engine features/functions added at that same low level of cross partition support code.

Another miracle chunk of code like Timi.

If I recall correctly one HMC can support about 40 partitions across a few systems.
