Hello All,

I have a question on the UDFS (User Defined File System) for the AS/400
and iSeries.

Why would I want to use a UDFS as opposed to putting PC files directly
into IFS directories ?

Does it speed up file backup by putting PC files into a simulated disk ASP
and then treating the UDFS object as a single object just like the
Integrated PC Server (FSIOP/IPCS/IXS or whatever it's called today) would.
It's a nice concept, but I need some confirmation on what the advantages
are.

The iSeries documentation on the UDFS and where it's best used are very
sketchy.

>From my initial testing it seems more cumbersome because you have to
create the UDFS and make sure it's mounted before use.

Any input would be appreciated.
