i have one such upgrade discussion going on now, -
and adding a few simple solutions will get them to buy a new box.
sending email directly from an rpg screen
reading in excel files they receive of orders (which now require user entry)
I added advertising info & logos to existing outbound faxing.
Unless they are out of disk or performance, you are right, they won't move.
But some fairly basic app stuff will get them buying. These are not
Websphere potentials.
They also don't want to throw out wiring, printer, and network
infrastructure to bring in a different hardware platform.
But there is something about a "promo" that nudges people along,
and why I think IBM should keep a tradein going. IBM can contract someone
else to pickup/dispose for  a few hundred.
