Beats me, The chart at
http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/hardware/life.html

shows that they still plan on new 800 sales beyond the end of April 2004.
Perhaps the sliding scale on what they'd give you on a 7xx box for an 800
would be considered an insult by some? And if the low end of the scale
for a 7xx box on an 810 is $10,000 what do you expect for a 436 on a 800?
A case of returnable empty bottles?

Sounds like a car dealership. I knew one guy who was not going for the
deal because (my numbers are off but the theory is sound) he didn't get
enough of a trade in for his truck
new car 25,000
trade in -1,500
total 23,500

So the dealer cut him a new offer and he was pleased as punch, and signed
the contract
new car 27,000
trade in -3,500
total 23,500

Why does there never seem to be a promotion at the
low end - the model 800's? Lot's of 720's, 270's 236, 436, 200, 400, Sxx
servers fit more in the 800 range, yet IBM makes no trade in offer?
