Just one point; I (and a few others) did - without the knowledge contained in 
the second email from the original poster - infer (rightly or wrongly, and when 
I say rightly and wrongly I mean in the of the inference) that the original 
poster was trying to get out of paying, purely from the text of the original 
email - such is the limitations of the email medium.

As for your other points on F/OSS and economics, I can't fault them. They were 
well put.

And I smiled for a good while, when I read your remark about IBM off-shoring 
(without actually going over water) work from Rochester :)
