Stock market crash was October 1987,

COMMON Toronto was October 1988.

Yes, it was the best attended conference on record - probably because it
was the first conference after the AS/400 announcement.

I'm interested to see whether COMMON has more attendees at San Antonio
in May (where it has been announced that IBM sessions will be speaking
openly about V5R3 for the first time), or at Toronto. My suspicion is
that folks who attend just one conference a year will migrate towards
San Antonio if they are the leading edge types who want or need to get
V5R3 details as soon as possible, and the folks who usually wait 6
months for a release to stabilize may migrate towards the Toronto
conference. Either way, it's going to be a great couple of
conferences.
