Now I am really confused.  Isn't the hardware merging?  Does AIX and OS/400
run on the same box depending on which CD's you use to load the operating
system?  Somewhere I have heard the only difference in the hardware is the
color of the panel on the front of the cabinet.  

In other words doesn't Oracle already operate natively on IBM hardware?

I am pretty sure that there was a statement of direction that AIX will run
native on the release after V5R2.
