Seems to me that the "1 twinax 4 position tap" sounds like the requisite
"brick" (never heard it called that, but it fits). At least that's the
sort of "brick" hanging off the back of our 170.

As to software, don't despair if it's only a V4R4 or even V4R3 machine.
There's plenty of software that will run just fine on it. Case in point,
QuestView, of which even the latest version will still run on a V2R3
machine.
