Thanks to all for their suggestions.

I think I have three possibilities...

* I can increase the line speed to the remote locations (local LAN
locations are fine).

* I can move to IPDS and save the overlay in the printer. I think this
will cost between $500 and $1000 per printer.

* I can store the overlay as a PCL macro on the printer. I don't know
much about this technique (yet) but I'm checking it out.

Anyone know of other possibilities?
