The projects on SourceForge are not shareware. They're open source. There's
a big difference. You not only have access to the project team, but you
have access to the source. If you get desperate enough, you can fix it
yourself. If you want to have a more direct influence, you can even join
the team. You're ignoring a significant resource if you discount open
source. It's not all great stuff though. Caviat emptor.
