What's the easiest way to convert DBCS character data to Shift-JIS? I'd
like a pure RPG solution. Right now, I can write EBCDIC data to a
stream file opened with the correct CCSID and it will auto-convert to
ASCII. If I set up the IFS file with Shift-JIS (943), will the system
automatically convert shift-in/shift-out data to the correct Shift-JIS
double-byte code?

Is there a way to convert it in place? That is, can I take a field with
some EBCDIC double byte data (say in CCSID 5026) and call an API to
convert it to Shift-JIS (CCSID 943)?

Joe
