Actually, Beth, Robert Upshall and I have just released an Open Source
product that does this very thing! You can read about it in my article,
the iSeries Goes Open Source:

http://www.mcpressonline.com/mc?1@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx@.6ae84a16

We haven't released it for binary download yet, but if you follow the
instructions you will be able to use CVS to download the project into
WDSc, and from there you can use it.

Basically, you start a little server program on the PC that contains the
Access database, and then you use a little Java program on the iSeries
to talk to the server. I include a sample program that reads an Access
database (also included) to show you how it works.

We hope to have a regular download available this week that doesn't
require CVS or WDSC, but since we both have daytime jobs, it's a little
tough to find the time <grin>.

Joe
